This is the third time I'm writing this post. What the Fuck is up with Typepad? I'm really getting tired of this. Does anyone have a blog host with a better track record of not burping and losing all one's work? If so please share it. I just paid for a full year subscription but will be happy to ask for my money back if anyone has a better host.
Ack. Ok. As I was saying, here is Nancy's Irish Kochoran Hiking scarf. Finally done and just in the St. Nick of time but for weaving in the ends and maybe blocking some. But since it's 3 days before Christmas Eve, I think it will go as-is. Here are the specs:
Yarn: Noro Kochoran, color # 36, wool, silk, angora, 1 skein
Pattern: Irish Hiking Scarf from Hello Yarn, adapted.
Cast on 18 sts. do 1 cable repeat only, knit till yarn is gone!
Measure: 61" x 3-4" (55 cm x 8-10cm), depending on how you stretch/block it
Here's a close up, the yarn is just so incredible:
I started and promptly took off the needles (it's nigh on impossible to frog it) the shades of sky blue Maggi Ireland mohair loops scarf for ex-SIL Sabine. The fabric was just too dense and furry even though I was working on size 13 needles. I think it needs a drop stitch openwork pattern that I don't have and would need to hunt to find. soooo...I'm not sure what to make her nor what to cast on next. Maybe Eloise? Michelle and I are talking about the Hourglass Sweater from Joelle Halvorsen's Knitted Gifts book. Anyone else out there looking for some stash reducing fun? Let me know, we might start an Hourglass along. In January. heh.
In Finnish offspring news, the Finnlettes decorated our tree today so we're on the hunt this afternoon for tinsel and an angel to crown it. And some last minute gifts. AND some of the makings for Christmas Eve/Noche Buena dinner. Black beans and rice, lechon, salad, tostones, platanos maduros, yuca, salad and a hamburger for the Boy. Pictures of the Finnlettes to come next. And thanks again for all the kidlet advice. We went to the LYS on Saturday and picked out the yarn and needles and we started the knitting lessons yesterday! Laura is really catching on quickly and next up will be Eli(na). I think they'll be thrilled to be blogstars. Later, gators...
I hit 'draft' as soon as I start writing and then save throughout. It's most likely your browser not Typepad.
Love the pretty scarf! Happy Holidays, grrlfriend!

I do the same thing that Margene does with Typepad or I type everything in WordPad or Notepad first and copy it to Typepad. But I still save it as "draft" first.
The scarf is gorgeous!

Huh! I'm glad I snuck out of typepad when I did. I know of a good host and some great blogging software if you want some help. Just drop me an email!

happy christmas week,

beautiful scarf. . .
The only time I lose stuff with Typepad is when I use my "Back" button at the wrong time, so it's really my fault, not theirs. I often save drafts, too.

Whoa, I was here in the comment field blah blah, yapping about yarn and the lovely, lovely scarf in this post of yours, and as often happens, I wandered away from the computer briefly (it's 11pm and I forgot to feed the dogs) and when I came back, decided to change the sentence order of something insignificant, highlighted it with the mouse, hit the backspace key, and guess what !!! Everything vanished.
So maybe its a weird electrical issue with certain types... On blogger, I type stuff in Word first, then copy and paste to publish, but it substitutes strange character sets for common punctuation.
I think you could teach the kidlets to type, then just dictate your posts to your new staff. Let them sweat the logistics.
