Fair warning, ambling miscellany to follow...
Summer has arrived chez FiberTribe despite it being Spring Break week and the first day of spring. All these wooly projects are losing their appeal by the minute. I have much company in-house the next 10 days or so, Nils and Bibi from Germany, tomorrow Trinity arrives from NYC for the Winter Music Conference . In preparation, I was forced to confront the stash littered about the guest bedroom.
My god. There are yarns in there I don't even remember buying much less what I intended to knit with them. But the good news is that I likely have everything I'll need for all the summery tanks and short-sleeved tops I'm pining for. And since everyone I know is reproducing at an alarming rate, I conveniently also found much baby yarn and mini-lace hats and bonnets etc. in various stages of UFO-dom.
In other news, the South Beach SnB is up and running. We will be meeting Wednesdays from 7 - 9 pm at Go-Go, a little food cafe on Alton Road at 10th St. on Miami Beach. So far everyone but me is an ex-New Yorker/Bostonian or still commuting from there to there. Funny. Also, I'm the oldest member by far, which is really weird. I mean, I feel 20-something inside until I'm up close to what 20-something is and then it's oh. yeah. guess I am a bit different etc. It really is an attitude adjustment. It's a funny balance between "I'm so glad I'm not going through all of that again" and "It really is great to have so much unknown before you to shape." And then I remember I still do have so much unknown before me to shape. Maybe a little more focused and with certain things more likely to be excluded. You get my drift, I think. I hope always to have cross-generational friends and acquaintances. Keeps you fresh and eyes wide open.
Knitting, you say? Am completing yet another modified Irish Hiking Scarf (free pattern from Hello Yarn) this time in Li*on Brand Boucle in a sage, gold, magenta, purple variegated colorway. it's a quick knit and I have about 3 feet done (pictures later). It was to be for Terri at Endicott West, but the acrylic and the colors just weren't right for her. She needs something finer, and drapier, and softer against the skin. She's a tiny woman and needs must have a long and skinny scarf. In purples and indigos, I think. So the boucle scarf will go to the Dulaan project.
Next up will be a handful of hats for the same project. And the final sleeve on the Hourglass Sweater, now that it's too hot to wear it, eh.
And lastly, took two classes this weekend toward advancing the intuitive work. One with my regular teacher and one with Paula, a Lomi Lomi practioner. Lomi Lomi is one of the ancient Hawai'ian healing arts. I spent three hours learning about Ka Iwi, which means the Bones. amazing. Paula has been given her teacher's blessing (which in Lomi Lomi-speak means obligation) to teach and pass along the knowledge. Happy Monday, ya'll.
Multigenerational friends are a good thing, indeed. We didn't really have any in NJ, but here in Maine, there are so many old hippies ready to take some modern hippies under their wings. Some of our best friends are 35 years older than us!

I know what you mean. I have this theory that everyone sort of "freezes" at the age they first felt like an adult. Mine is seventeen, and anytime I'm faced with my real age I feel a split-second of confusion. Ah, youth. Well, it's good to have multigenerational friends--if I didn't have any friends older than me, there would be no one to tell me it gets better. Thanks for your sweet comments, chica--I'm really not that all up in fixing my friend's issues, but I'm going through some serious grieving since speaking up seems to have lost me my BBF. Oh well, Spring is on the way.
