Thanks to generous helpings of enablement from missy Michelle over Blog-O-Rama way, a fat parcel of oh-so-soft Classic Elite Two-Two landed on my doorstep yesterday. I went in search of a cheaper alternative yarn for the red and orange thickly cabled and kidsilk hazed sweater in the most recent Vogue Knitting. By buying one bag each from Webs and spliting the third bag, Michelle and I scored the thick yarn needed for $45 each! The 4 skeins of Kidsilk will likely cost the same but it sure does bring the price of the thing within reach.
Plus I who knew how light and squooshy the Two-Two would be? I normally shy away from thick yarn sweaters no matter how quickly they knit up due to substantial rackage and the lack of stick figure arms. But I'm really taken with this and hopefully it will all work out. Now to find a compatible color to go with the purple. I'm thinking maybe navy kidsilk?
Pictures later so you can take a look and advise me on color.
One more thing. Though I haven't got the button up on my site yet, please go see Emma (at Emma & Co.) if you're inclined to help her get her beloved Oliver a proper car seat and/or wheelchair and/or stair lift. It's sad to find that the national health care system in England fails disabled children (and moms like Emma) in many of the same ways ours does. But I know you KnitBlogesses will come through in a pinch. Mwah!
That pattern was one of the ones that really jumped out at me from this edition of VK. Can't wait to see the colours you choose.
