The turkey, she is brining happily away in the fridge, courtesy of a late night phone call from my friend Patrick in Kauai. You see I, er, was going to take a wee nap at 9 pm, strictly to fortify myself for tonight's prep for the big feast tomorrow. You can guess the rest. Phone rings around midnight and someone begins talking to me about how sorry he is my computer hasn't arrived here yet. Whaaa??? You know how it is when you 'ummhmmm' and 'yeah, right' through about 5 - 10 sentences into a conversation because you can't figure out for the life of you who is talking but you don't really want to admit it? well, duh.
My slumbering, muzzy brain finally engages and it becomes clear to me that it is Patrick calling from Kauai apologizing for waking me up AND for some snafu in sending me a totally brand new dive computer. Seems he inadvertantly borrowed mine when he visited this past summer prior to taking a dive instructor job in Kauai. Since the dive computer was an incredibly wonderful top of the line Christmas present from the P-man himself, I figured he was totally entitled to use it as long as he liked. I haven't been diving due to my accident-damaged shoulders anyway. But Missy Neena arrives from Utah tomorrow for a Thanksgiving. (Yay!) We plan to ignore the fact that tonight is so far the coldest one of the year in South Florida and go snorkeling (Neena) and diving (me) down the Keys this weekend. Um. If you dive it helps to have air and and depth gauges, ya think? That's what the dive computer does among other things. Soooo.... Patrick had decided to buy me a totally new computer in place of the one he has been using. Peeps, these things are not cheap... and now he's apologizing for the delay on top of it? and saving my ass in the I-will-never-ever-hear-the-end-of-this from my turkey-less friends department...just sayin'....
So here I sit typing this at 2:30 a.m. Btw, if you're going to brine a turkey, make sure you have a big enough pot first, 'K?
And yes, I know, I know, I still haven't posted pictures of the yarn and sweaters and mittens and socks and other loveliness hauled back from Finland and Latvia. They're coming soon, I promise, along with pictures of Neena and Caroline's excellent adventures.
To tide you over, here are some stylin' teenybopper baby-Goths walking down the street in downtown Tampere, Finland. Don't you wish you were 14 again? heh.
Among the many things I am thankful for this year, high on the list are all of the wonderful friends I've come to know via the knitblogging world. Thanks for sharing a bit of your lives and all of your spirited selves. And thanks for sharing mine.
Have a great Thanksgiving! Hope you get lots of use out of the new diving computer.

I'm just waiting for Neena to come down so I can drive her to the airport. I'm not sure she's prepared for cold temps! Have fun and think of me the whole time...kidding! I'll make sure she gives you a hug from me!
