Thanks for all your kind and encouraging comments. It's one of those times when even though my head knows things, I really, really need to hear them again, read them again, and be reminded and reminded. One good friend I spoke to this afternoon who I had not told of my new leap laughed at hearing of my scattery and disjointed, rambling days. He told me it is called being over 50. Heh. Not actually. It reminds me of the amazingly simple and wonderful name of Melanie's blog, Swim. That's exactly what this feels like. Treading water and feeling around for the flow.
I actually breathed at some point during the day and thought, wow, this is good. And my friends Barney and Jack were dead-on with their advice, too. Abandon the lists, they said. Realize that you can do ANYTHING you want and go play for a while. You need to rest and then play. They're right. I'm still scurrying around on my squirrel treadmill, constructing agendas and schedules where there really are none. Now maybe being on 'sabbatical' creates metaphor overload syndrome, but here's another: I'm slowly blinking and opening my eyes as if awakening from a long, long slumber...you may now address me as rumple-freaking-stiltskin. That is all from the land of sunshine.
You seem like a pretty strong swimmer, you will do great!
