You betcha. While I was over the mountain visiting Neena & Don in Cedar City (thanks again, guys!) a front must have moved through. For it was 22 degrees as I blew by Bryce Canyon last night around 7:00 pm. And was just as cold as I pulled into Boulder around 8 pm. As I'm sitting in Eddie & Janina's kitchen typing this, I keep having to get up and warm my hands at the stove. You see, Boulderites have this thing about holding out and not turning the heat on till icicles form on your nose while you're sitting on the couch, just like the Harlot. And we are not cold enough yet, evidently. Brrrr. Cold to my Miami bones.
So today, glorious play day that it is, I will be cooking kale and onions and potatoes with fake canadian bacon. Yummy cold weather food. My friend Dennis went over the mountain to Salt Lake City the same day I bugged out for Cedar City. so of course I gave him a shopping list for Wild Bloats. Organic kale, and hey, Liz? I'm contiuing the eat local thing for the potatoes are locally grown organics.
Then there will be beef barley soup using the organic beef broth I found on sale when I raided the Smith's in CC. Probably due to Southern Utah Univ., there is a surprisingly good and inexpensive selection of organic food, produce and canned goods. On the list for tomorrow is a big Thai food feast. There was fresh lemon grass at the Smith's, who knew? and pot roast a la HBG. Gotta cook to keep the kitchen warm. Plus I plan on feeding Eddie well in thanks for letting me stay at his and Janina's place. That was Janina in her goth dominitrix Halloween outfit in the doorway on the last post. She's off to cocktail waitress over the winter in Las Vegas.
We're waiting for a storm to arrive here in paradise. Not sure if it will be snow or rain but the betting is on rain. Glad I came back over the mountain ahead of it. I suppose this means Indian Summer is over, eh?
May post actual knitting content later if I can get my fingers warmed up. And are you sitting down? Yes? Then strap on those ice skates because Hell must be freezing over again. I am about to attempt to join the dark sock side and cast on my first pair of socks. So kindly enabled by Laurie's wee optimistic giftee last March on my first visit to the Utah KnitGrrrls (scroll down to April 2nd)... pray for me. And if you can't pray for me then pray for warm feet...mwah.
YAY!!! You'll love sock knitting Caroline!!!
And if you think your stash is big now, the siren song of sock yarn is irresistable! Welcome newbie :)

You are in the perfect world for lots of yummy handknit socks. They are fun, and if you stick to a simple pattern, nearly as soothingly mindless as flat knitting.
