Again, out on the 'power point' of the previous post. I'm not too photogenic (read, not at all) so this is some kind of minor miracle. I think happiness makes the camera take pity on one's beaky old self, eh?
I'm holding an heart-shaped rock. There's the cult of finding the heart-shaped rock and the cult of finding arrows and knives from the Anazazi & Fremont cultures. I seem to have the eye for finding both. Most people go waaay off the beaten track to find arrows etc. I find them walking down the tracks where people drive their pickups. so long as it's private land AND not in situ, that is, the arrow etc. is somewhere rain or traffic has dumped it out of it's context, I will take it. Otherwise I take a picture and leave it. Here is my first complete arrow found. I was over the moon, I tell you. And Neena and Don were there to see it, too!
Here are a few shots of Neena and Don out on the "patio", a place off the Mail Trail where locals go to party out on a big flat area of slickrock. You can catch a great sunset here though we were too early.
Oh. Right. I was going to introduce you to some of my Backbone buds. Here's a table full at the collapse-and-eat dinner we had just before tearing the restaurant apart for 2 days to give it the end of season cleaning.
left to right: Willow with her had down on the table, Erin, me, Lee-Lee with a blue hat on, Blake, Vlasto, Pat, Sieta, Bryn (poking her head over from the next table), Elayna, and Colleen's red-headed son (whose name I blank on always), and Chanda and young Makai again at the next table. I'm truly blessed by the wonderful co-workers and friends I've met since coming out here. There's something about this place that pure and simple draws people in. I've got witnesses, too, heh. Neena & Don introduced me to it all, and Edge surely did enable it. All of them are long-time redrock hustlers, fer shure. Thank you, guys, more than you know...Now the rest of you lot, what are you doing sitting there looking at all this? Start plotting how you can get yer butts out here for at least a visit, mmmk?
